A group of far-left extremists has taken over several blocks in Seattle, and has established an “autonomous zone” they claim is outside the control of the United States. Soon after it was established, a local rapper claimed control over it and established an internal security force.
The location is benignly referred to as the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ), and reports claim armed activists have been extorting businesses for money, stopping and frisking people entering the zone, and using mob justice to deal with internal crime.
And as cities across the United States begin to open, officials may face lawsuits if regulations went too far. Sen. Hawley is calling on Attorney General William Barr to investigate whether state and local officials violated religious protections under the Constitution in their actions.
