Corrupt officials ‘did everything they could’ to stop Trump coming to office

Revelations a former FBI agent altered documents in relation to the surveillance of a Trump campaign advisor shows how far corrupt officials went to stop Donald Trump from coming to power, according to Sky News host James Morrow.

Former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith is poised to plead guilty to falsifying a document used to justify the continued surveillance of Trump campaign advisor Carter Page.

The charges were part of an investigation led by US attorney John Durham, who is examining the origins of the FBI’s investigation into possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russian interference during the 2016 election.

“According to the charges brought against Clinesmith, the lawyer deliberately altered an email from another federal agency – believed to be the CIA – to make it look like Carter Page had never worked with the CIA to investigate suspected Russian agents working in the USA,” Mr Morrow said.

“This is important, because Page had in fact worked a number of times with both the CIA AND the FBI – but concealing this fact was necessary to make it look like Page, and by extension the Trump campaign, was potentially compromised by Moscow.

“The charges against Clinesmith were brought by prosecutor John Durham, who has been specifically tasked with uncovering the malfeasance and conspiracy wrought by the Obama administration as the evidence mounts that the former president used the Justice Department to illegally spy on his would-be successor Hillary Clinton’s Republican rival.”
