Is Answers in Genesis still relying on outdated information to dismiss the possible remains of Noah’s Ark in Turkey?
In this special presentation, Dr. Bill Crabtree and Andrew Jones, founder of Noah’s Ark Scans, respond to longstanding criticisms of the Durupinar Noah’s Ark site—particularly Dr. Andrew Snelling’s controversial 1992 article, “Special Report: Amazing ‘Ark’ Exposé.”
More than 34 years ago, Dr. Snelling argued that the boat-shaped formation was nothing more than a natural geological feature, claiming that solid basement rock beneath the site ruled out the possibility of Noah’s Ark being buried there.
❗ BUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN DECADES OF NEW SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE CHALLENGE THOSE OLD CONCLUSIONS? 🔬 NEW SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE (2019–2026)
✅ 2019 GROUND-PENETRATING RADAR Revealed subsurface anomalies, including apparent parallel and perpendicular features and a possible central corridor.
✅ 2024 SOIL ANALYSIS Identified significant chemical differences between samples collected inside and outside the formation, including approximately three times the organic matter and elevated potassium levels.
✅ 2026 BAKHTARRADAR SURVEYS Preliminary results identified possible voids, linear features, and a central anomaly extending approximately 250 feet. The survey also reported no identifiable bedrock reflector to approximately 95 meters beneath the formation.
✅ 2026 CORE DRILLING Twelve boreholes, some reaching approximately 18 meters (60 feet), reportedly did not encounter the continuous solid bedrock mass proposed in earlier geological explanations.
✅ NEW LABORATORY INVESTIGATIONS Hundreds of collected samples are undergoing scientific examination to better understand the site’s composition, history, and possible archaeological significance.

❓ WHY ARE DECADES-OLD CONCLUSIONS STILL BEING USED? Why should a 1992 critique continue to be treated as the final word when substantial new scientific investigations have taken place? We believe Answers in Genesis should reconsider its continued use of Dr. Snelling’s old “Ark Exposé” as a definitive dismissal of the Durupinar site. That article could not evaluate the evidence gathered in 2014, 2019, 2024, or 2026.
⚠️ WHAT WE ARE — AND ARE NOT — CLAIMING We are not claiming that every question has been answered or that the latest preliminary findings conclusively establish the discovery of Noah’s Ark. Laboratory results, comprehensive scientific reports, and independent review are still necessary. However, NEW EVIDENCE DESERVES NEW EVALUATION—not automatic dismissal based on conclusions made more than three decades ago!
