Doctor Scott Atlas, former chief of neuroradiology at the Stanford University Medical Center, says he has empathy for those in the American public crippled with fear by the recent spike in COVID-19 — but none for the politicians making decisions based on emotion rather than facts. And here are the facts on the current second wave of coronavirus: numbers are going up because the virus is infectious and contagious. Numbers are also going up because testing has increased. But while cases seemingly “skyrocket,” the death rate among young, healthy Americans has gone down. Most hospitals have enough room for an influx of patients. Atlas says we need to focus on protecting the MOST vulnerable — the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions — without destroying the lives of Americans who will more than likely recover if infected.
