The Yangtze River in China is “drying out” in parts as the country battles a severe heatwave, The Australian’s Will Glasgow says. “What’s happened in China, especially in the west, is huge rivers, the Yangtze River – the world’s third biggest river – is drying out in parts of it,” he told Sky News Australia. “That means in the far-west of China, in Sichuan, hydroelectricity is the main source of power, and the power is not working.”
