There are many forms of idolatry.
Romans 1 IDOLATRY BEGAN WHEN PEOPLE CREATED IMAGES AND SYMBOLS TO WORSHIP
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed THE GLORY of the incorruptible God into AN IMAGE made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
IDOLATRY: How do people forget God and turn good things into evils thing?
IDOLATRY: is worshiping anything ABOVE GOD or creating an image to help you worship Him!
A SYMBOL TURNS TO AN IDOL WHEN IT’S PRESENCE IS USED TO WORSHIP GOD AND ARTIFICIALLY MAKE HIS PRESENCE FEEL REAL
Exodus 20
4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any LIKENESS OF ANYTHING that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall NOT BOW DOWN to them NOR serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
Colossians 3:5
Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and COVETOUSNESS, which is IDOLATRY.
