Independent Analyst Dr Rakib Ehsan says “the normalisation of left-wing bigotry” is fundamentally undermining “democratic stability and social cohesion”.

Mr Ehsan said, unfortunately, some of the most “egregious race-baiting” is often perpetrated by elected officials.

“The problem that the left has is that it’s increasingly – elements of the left, particularly regressive elements of the left – framing conservative values as markers of whiteness,” he told Sky News host Rita Panahi.

“The conservative values I have, for example, robust family values, love for community, desire for economic self-sufficiency, respect for discipline and order, is drawn from my south-Asian heritage more than anything – being of Bangladeshi and Indian origin.

“So to frame these as markers of whiteness, what elements of the left are doing, they are essentially masking over traditional conservative values which run deep in many non-white communities.”
